Leonardo, Michelangelo, Savonarola, Luther and the popes of excess such as Alexander VI and Leo X, a Medici, who brought the church to its knees, are all here. Find out which scandal forced Leonardo to flee Florence and see why Michelangelo was enraged for much of his life. See which monk, despite personal challenges, painted works of narrative eloquence; the best ever seen. This monk's work inspired the Pre-Raphaelites almost 400 years later. The Medici bankrolled art and philosophy in Florence but there were dark undercurrents in their desire for power.
