"boundaries in space "©

Acrylic on clayboard; Size 16"by20"(40cm by 50cm); Date 2006.

Space set against an aurora. This imaginary piece led me to a change in thinking. The frame of the image inside the frame is the big question about imagery and flat surfaces or rather trying to create a 3 dimensional image on a flat surface. Where is the real boundary here? This leads to other questions about boundaries and perception including how one percieves another.

To some extent the work has an abstract background with a simplified image in the foreground. This transition piece says something about where to go next having mastered perspective sfumato and other elements of traditional 3D art which the renaissance gave us.
