This all started with a picture of a very beautiful Japanese girl. The image was drawn onto card and squared up using the old proportional method. It was then transferred to canvas.

Manga cartoons let my imagination run free to create a kimono like dress. Having only the head drawn, it took a little work to figure out realistic angles and the position of the shoulder.

Fall colors and hundreds of leaves flying in the wind became the atmospherics in the work. There is a lot of traditional brushwork in this one so it was labor intensive.
