his was the first of the trilogy which moved through "Serpent Rising" to "Blue Force".As soon as the main section of the work was laid in, I became stuck.The work seemed lifeless.In a few days I sank into a motionless and airless depression. Gradually this state of mind refereed itself to the source of the problem which was an unbroken dependency on the mother figure.

It took a few more weeks of contemplation and prayer to find the resolution. After some inspiration I added the streaming and bubbles, highlights on the lower dolphin and fish, some more minnows and intensified the orange at the bottom. This was the release I was looking for .The following work, "Serpent Rising", became a symbol for creative energy now in motion . The image came to me spontaneously on completion of this one. "Blue Force" is a symbol for the completed psychological release from this predicament.
