Redwall Canyon was motivated by a waterfall we saw near the Grand canyon. However it became a largely imaginary work with the issues of color and new painting techniques taking over. Eventually it became an elemental work in the sense that it became, through refinement and reduction, a painting concerning elements of rock water and light. It was reworked in 2007.
