Believe it or not, this one was inspired by a visit to the Grand Canyon. We spent a few nights on the north side at 8,000 feet and after acclimatization (yes hit by mountain sickness) we were enthralled by the whole place, the depth, the geology the shifting light. at first I thought to paint a hugh section of the canyon but came back and set to work on a feature I had dreamed up instead. The light on the glowing rock became the central motif. the whole experience converted into manageable bytes glowing for the last moments in the sunset.. For lack of a better term the visit to the canyon was a religious one. An epiphany if you like.
